SWAHILI FASHION WEEK 2015: The Lead Up !






It started with a release of the nominees for the awards  by SWAHILI FASHION WEEK 2015. A chance for the public to vote for their favourite contributor to the fashion industry in Tanzania and East Africa.




Next came the model casting call which was held at Colosseum, Oysterbay, Dar es Salaam




A few weeks later there was the pop up shop at the Italian Ambassador's residence in Oysterbay, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

FASHION TIPS


Fashion shows are all about catching up with your friends, having fun and supporting the latest designers by showing up at the event.  An original outfit will catch the attention of the photographers but there is no "rule of thumb" when it comes to the dress code.

MISS UNIVERSE TANZANIA COMPETITION 2015: Stylish CEO, MARIA, In Focus!

This year MISS UNIVERSE TANZANIA competition is being held at the King Solomon Hall in Namanga, Dar es Salaam.

MARIA SARUNGI -TSEHAI, CEO of COMPASS COMMUNICATIONS, Dar es Salaam, has been successfully launching the careers of young women, through the MISS UNIVERSE licence, with many going on to greener pastures such as FLAVIANA MATATA and MIRIAM ODEMBA.

MISS UNIVERSE TANZANIA representatives also get a chance to attend courses at a film academy in New York as part of the prize.


The competition is more than just about looks and elegant wear, it gives young women a chance to travel to a worldwide competition and also further their experiences as they work on social responsibility projects and attend courses in the arts.

The current title holder, NALE, is studying medicine, combining beauty with brains.




This year the panel of judges are young, vibrant, open minded and have international and local experience in their fields which will enable them to make the correct choices when selecting the winner.
